Advances in medical science is always based on basic and applied research. The scientific test reagent is one of the most important tools. Scientific reagents mainly include proteins, antibodies and kits.

Generally speaking, any scientific research is featured with preciseness. However, the scientific reagents on the market can’t meet the required.

Human Protein Atlas (HPA) was started by Sweden scientists aiming to research characteristics of human proteins. Tons of antibodies would be required for the project. So they verified 9000 antibodies from 29 suppliers to test if the antibodies could work well.

It turned out 49% of the antibodies was totally useless, 29% of them could not be confirmed as good quality, 22% of them could supported the experiment data, and only 7% of them got the data which completely matched the data offered before the experiments. This result must had disappoint every researcher.

No matter what the scientific research is, it is meat to be a rough road and it will wear you down with lots of difficulties, but low-quality antibodies should not have been one of them. Low-quality antibodies not only bring the waste of time and resources, but also delay the progress of research. How to choose high quality antibodies for experiments has been attached more importance.

Usually, you can tell the quality from the package and interference experiments. In addition, communication is also a way to have a try. Sometimes, psychological tactics is more efficient.

What’s more, how to choose a suitable antibody for your certain experiments is another problem you need to solve. The specificity, application, selection of primary antibody and secondary antibody, etc. Every step needs to be very carefully.
